What is a coupon?

By definition a coupon is – a marketing tool in the form of a document that can be redeemed for a discount when purchasing goods or services.

In other words, companies put out coupons to boost an interest in the product and move it off the shelves.

Where can I find coupons?

Coupons are issued by manufacturers or retailers to consumers and may be distributed through direct mail or other marketing means.

This means online, in stores, magazines, doctor’s offices..even the gas station!

What do I do with a coupon?

A coupon will feature a specific savings amount or other special offer with each use.

I like to think that coupons are my cash!

Imagine this – you are at the grocery store, watching the total go up..and up..and up.

Your mind starts calculating – how much left in the bank account, how many days until the next payday…do I have enough gas to make it a few more days???

This was me, until one day I stumbled upon a little show on TLC called Extreme Couponing. I saw buggies and buggies of food…and with coupons they were paying pennies on the dollar.

Say whaattt???

My idea of couponing was a couple of dollars off here and there…but this show was a definite extreme wake-up call.

Of course, I knew there was some TV magic involved, but the concept of couponing on this level was entirely new to my world…

Over the past few months, my concept of shopping and finding a really “good deal” has changed dramatically. I’ve had so many requests on how to do this “coupon thing” that I wanted to start this blog.

I invite you to join me as I share my knowledge and hope that we can all exhale at the register!!
